How long do treatments take?

This is assessed on a patient-by-patient basis depending on your oral health. However, you can expect a check-up and clean to last approx. 1 hour, and filling treatments to take between 30 & 60 minutes. Implants and large cosmetic procedures can take anywhere from a few months to a year once planning stages & healing times are considered.

How much do your procedures cost?

This is something that we must assess and answer on a case-by-case basis. While we can estimate the average cost of a procedure, this can very quickly change depending on the needs of the individual patient. During your first consultation, we will be able to provide you with an indicative total cost for treatment.

Are there any forms I need to fill out as a new patient?

All new patients are required to fill out a New Patient Form upon their first visit to Portrush Family Dental. Alternatively, you can save yourself 10 minutes on the day and pre-fill a New Patient Form online!

Why do I need x-rays?

“To see is to know; not to see is to guess”, and we won’t guess about your health. Our eyes can only see above the gums. X-rays enable us to see between teeth and under gums to detect any deficiencies that we would otherwise miss.

What toothbrush/toothpaste should I use?

Any toothpaste is fine, so long as it has fluoride in it. The same goes for toothbrushes; as long as it is soft bristled, any brand is fine.

What health funds do you accept?

We are network providers for Bupa, Medibank & HCF. However, we accept all other health funds including DVA patients.

Do you accept Afterpay as a payment option?

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! We offer payment plans through DentiCare for up to 12 months post-treatment for standard dental care and up to 18 months for Invisalign treatment. There is a small surcharge of 3.9% and a $39 setup fee. You can opt for weekly, fortnightly or monthly direct debits, and the payee must be an employed Australian resident with no history of bankruptcy.

Do you honour Medicare's Child Dental Benefit's Schedule?

Absolutely – all eligible patients between 2 and 17 years of age will be provided with $1,026 over two calendar years, which can be used to finance a range of dental services at our clinic.

Why should I go to the dentist regularly?

6-monthly check-ups allow us to monitor your general oral health over time and identify any changes early. The sooner we detect a problem, the smaller it will become.
