Dental X-rays

Dental radiographs (x-rays) are used as the most common diagnostic tool in dentistry. Dental x-rays can be used to examine for dental decay and dental abnormalities of the teeth, surrounding hard tissues and soft tissues. Bitewing x-rays are the smaller x-rays we take inside the mouth. Periodic bitewing x-rays are taken once every 2 years. Having regular x-rays allows us to diagnose any issues early so we can treat any problems in a timely manner to prevent the condition from worsening. Orthopantomogram (OPG) x-rays are a full mouth x-ray that are taken less often that bitewing x-rays but give a larger picture of the oral condition apart from the teeth. These can be used for orthodontics or diagnosing other conditions other than the teeth. OPG x-rays are also very useful for diagnosing conditions in the mouth that you may not even be feeling any problems from. Again the sooner we catch any issues the quicker we can treat the problem without any major complications. OPG x-ray
